Norma Grijalva, CIO
Norma began her academic career by obtaining a Bachelors and Masters degree of Science in Electrical Engineering. She then furthered her academics by earning her Interdisciplinary Doctorate in Educational Management and Development & Curriculum and Instruction. She has more than 20 years of progressive experience managing IT services, delivery and improvements. Her experience includes leading multiple teams and institution-wide projects to deliver a range of services to meet NMSU’s needs. Her technical and strategic skills have resulted in the delivery of highly available and disaster tolerant administrative and educational services. The combination of education and technical experience allow her to lead an information technology organization. She is currently an active participant in numerous projects within NMSU such as Office 365, MyNMSU Portal, CANVAS Learning Management System, Student Technology, Networking Infrastructure, and Classroom Technology. Norma also meets with ASNMSU (student government) to help implement student’s ideas. Her experience includes leading statewide projects by collaborating with other higher education institutions, public schools, and state government to reduce information technology costs and provide better overall services to the citizens of New Mexico. Initiatives include CHECS-Net the statewide education intranet and the Rio Grande Optical Network (RGON).
