The Chief Information Officer is responsible for providing leadership and support in information technology for the entire university community. The Office of the CIO promotes IT solutions that improve the teaching, learning, research, and administrative environment of the university.

The CIO reports to the Senior Vice President for Administration & Finance and is responsible for IT policy throughout the NMSU system, as well as the central computing resources managed through Information and Communication Technologies (http://ict.nmsu.edu). Simultaneously, the CIO sits on various Advisory committees such as STAC, FACT, and ACANS.

Current initiatives of the office of the CIO include statewide networking collaborations, improving IT project management, improving communication of IT costs and value to the university community, upgrading internal campus network infrastructure to support IPv6, and recognizing innovative IT solutions coming from the IT campus community.

The office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is located in the Computer Center building, Room 201, on the Las Cruces campus of New Mexico State University (NMSU).
